Speech: Calling for national framework for presumptive PSTD legislation for paramedics

Paramedics are exceptional Australians.

All governments, both state and federal, must do everything they can to support our paramedics and their families.

The Senate has passed legislation that would reverse the burden of proof, so that paramedics are no longer required to prove that they have developed post traumatic stress as a result of their service, when making a workers compensation claim.

Now is the time to adopt a national approach to presumptive legislation. Every paramedic in every state deserves to be treated equally.

Paramedics face trauma, danger and stress on a daily basis. They should not have to endure the same challenges when navigating the claims system.
