State Upper House Liberal MP, Andrew McLachlan is South Australia’s newest Senator after being officially endorsed to replace Cory Bernardi, who’s retired. Mr McLachlan has been a member of the Legislative Council since 2014 and served as its President for much of that time. He was officially selected for the Senate in a joint sitting at State Parliament this morning.

Premier, Steven Marshall says he’ll do a fine job representing South Australia’s interests: “I think it is important to have somebody with all the capability that Mr McLachlan has. His depth knowledge of the issues which confront South Australia, his understanding of the political process, I think he can hit the ground running.
