Cash for Communities | Wine Coast Whippet

Councils across the federal electorate of Mayo are to receive more than $13 million to update roads and infrastructure with the Wine Coast region firmly in the driving seat.

The City of Onkaparinga is to pick up $4.926 million from the federal government as part of phase three of its Local Roads and Community Infrastructure (LRCI) program.

Aldinga Sports Park hockey/ soccer new clubroom is to collect $518,330 while $200,00 will be spent on rural road intersection safety improvements via the installation of Rural Junction Active Warning (RJAWS) Lite systems at the intersection of Chalk Hill Road/Olivers Road/Field Street, McLaren Vale and at the intersection of California Road/Aldinga Road/ Almond Grove Road, Whites Valley.

Meanwhile $41,990 has been set aside for shelter and BBQ replacement at Esplanade, opposite Robertson Road in Moana.

Senator for South Australia Andrew McLachlan CSC hailed the financial input as fantastic news for communities seeking to turn wishlist ideas into reality.

It is an example of the federal government standing "shoulder to shoulder with councils and the communities they serve, delivering the funding needs to create jobs, economic stimulus and road and community infrastructure that will benefit Australians well into the future," he said.
