This funding will support more community infrastructure projects, boosting local jobs and driving the economic growth to make our nation as strong as possible as quickly as possible.

The additional funding brings the total Federal Government commitment to the LRCI Program to $3 billion.

Across three LRCI phases, the Federal Government has already provided local councils across Mayo with millions of dollars to carry out dozens of key infrastructure projects.

“Local councils across Mayo have been able to carry out an incredibly large number of important projects thanks to LRCI funding and I look forward to seeing further projects come to fruition following this additional $500 million funding commitment,” Senator McLachlan said.

“The LRCI program has funded a wide range of projects including road and safety upgrades, the development and refurbishment of community infrastructure, recreational works and upgrades for local sporting clubs and community groups.
